4 de may. de 2018 · Unlike other contemporary outbursts in May 1968, particularly those in Paris – characterised not just by student occupations of university premises but widespread rioting – the Hornsey protest was decidedly non-violent: a six-week long occupation of the college’s central building in Crouch Hill, and its concerns remained highly specific – the nature of art education.

Our history has been made by different London schools and colleges coming together, like St Katharine's College, a teacher training institute founded in 1878, and the iconic Hornsey College of Art. We became Middlesex Polytechnic in 1973, with a radical new way of learning focused on practical skills, and then Middlesex University in 1992.

Hornsey College of Art staged a sit in and Hornsey Town Hall was graffitied by Stuart Christie who wrote ‘Paris today – Hornsey Tomorrow’ across the walls. Although the council had it removed the following day, a trace of it remained for many years. 1968.
