Beeb Birtles (born Gerard Bertelkamp, 28 November 1948) is an Australian musician, singer, songwriter and guitarist.He has been a member of various Australian groups including Zoot (1967–71), Mississippi (1972–74), Little River Band (1975–83) and Birtles Shorrock Goble (2002–07). He has also worked as a solo artist, including releasing an album, Driven by Dreams (2000).
Brian Davidge is an Australian musician. He has played with Little River Band (1975), Tidewater (1976), Goanna (1982-83) and numerous other Australian bands. Davidge was chosen as the original lead guitarist for Little River Band. He played on the band’s first recording in 1975, a cover of the Everly Brothers song “When Will I Be Loved”.
Little River Band formed in March 1975 in Melbourne as a harmony rock group with Beeb Birtles on guitar and vocals, Graham Davidge on lead guitar, Graeham Goble on guitar and vocals, Dave Orams on bass guitar, Derek Pellicci on drums and Glenn Shorrock on lead vocals. Upon formation they were an Australian super group, with Birtles, Goble, Pellicci and Shorrock each from prominent local bands.
By 1981 the band was now Shane Howard, Rose Bygrave, Warrick Harwood, Peter 'Brolga' Coughlan on bass guitar, Marcia Howard(vocalist & synthesisers), Graham Davidge (electric guitar) and Robbie Ross on drums. They had shortened the name to Goanna. They supported James Taylor on the Australian leg of his 1981 tour.
We dreamed the impossible; that we could get the gig as the support act for the James Taylor National Tour in September 1981. Around this time we complemented our expanding line up with another gifted lead guitarist, Graham Davidge. Graham was very different in style to Warrick and the complemented each other.
