"Tons Of Sobs" was recorded at Morgan Studios in Willesden, London. The band entered the studio in October 1968 and the work was produced by Guy Stevens, broadly as straightforward sets with a few overdubs, on a budget of circa £800. Kossoff used a sunburst Les Paul & a black custom 3-pick-up Les Paul. Fraser used a Gibson EB.
Tons of Sobs is an album that sits firmly amongst the British blues boom of the late 1960s. It resembles a lot of the same characteristics that you'd find from the bands featuring Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page as well as the forgotten Peter Green Fleetwood Mac years.
