The year 1993 saw the release of Warm and Tender by the Charlie Watts Quintet, which included vocalist Bernard Fowler. This same group released Long Ago and Far Away in 1996. Both records included a collection of Great American Songbook standards.

Who would have thought that Charlie Watts would be the drummer in one of my now-favorite jazz albums. The vocals by Bernard Fowler are so perfect and the sax and trumpet fill out the recordings magnificently. What a nice surprise to find this album, I have shared it with everyone and it will certainly be on my list of gifts for friends and family!
