16 de ago. de 2023 · BELLEVUE, Washington – August 16, 2023 – TerraPower announced today the purchase of land in Kemmerer, Wyoming where the Natrium TM[1] Reactor Demonstration Project will be built. “This milestone purchase marks another step towards providing clean, reliable power to the grid and good-paying jobs in Wyoming,” said Chris Levesque, President and CEO of TerraPower.
TerraPower’s Molten Chloride Fast Reactor (MCFR) project expands the ability of nuclear reactor technology to decarbonize the economy in sectors including and beyond electricity. The MCFR technology operates at higher temperatures than conventional reactors, thus generating electricity more efficiently and without emissions.

In August 2020, TerraPower first introduced the Natrium technology, co-designed with GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy. It features a cost-competitive sodium fast reactor combined with a molten salt energy storage system. The Natrium technology is a carbon-free, reliable energy solution built to address climate concerns before it’s too late.

This design work will generate the plant specifications that will enable TerraPower and our contractors to outline our exact needs during the procurement phase of the project.
