Flint was born in 1942 in Manchester, England, and he took up the drums at age nine. His interest in jazz dated from the early '50s. Flint first met John Mayall when the latter was teaching music at a local youth club, and it was through Mayall that Flint became familiar with blues. Hughie Flint was born 15 March 1941, Manchester, Lancashire and is an English drummer, best known for his stint in John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, playing drums on the Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton album, released in 1966, for his group McGuinness Flint in the early 1970s and for his subsequent association with The Blues Band. Hughie Flint was born in Manchester, England in 1942. He began playing drums at age nine. In his early teens, he developed an avid interest in jazz. In the late 1950s, he met future bandleader John Mayall at a local youth club in Wythenshawe, where John was teaching music. Hughie was 17 at the time.
