Eugène-François Vidocq ( 23. července 1775 – 11. května 1857) byl původně francouzský zločinec, později policista a tajný agent, který se stal zakladatelem a velitelem Brigade de Sûreté (1812–1827), první moderní policejní organizace ve Francii. V roce 1833 založil první soukromou detektivní agenturu v Evropě.

29 de may. de 2021 · Vidocq’s talent for disguise and impersonation enabled him to stop numerous robbers and counterfeiters, and he was entrusted with more and more responsibility within the Paris police force. To help him handle the workload, in 1812, the Ministry of Police established the Brigade de la Sûreté, or “Security Brigade,” and appointed him as its first chief.
