Alan Gordon Griffiths (born 4 September 1952) is an Australian former politician who represented the Division of Maribyrnong for the Australian Labor Party from March 1983 to January 1996. Griffiths was a senior Minister in the Hawke and Keating governments and is now a businessman and non-executive director.
Alan Griffiths was born in Blantyre, Malawi in 1967 and moved to Christchurch, New Zealand six years later. He studied piano and clarinet from age 9 before winning a scholarship at age 10 as boy soprano with the Christchurch Cathedral Choir. From age 13 he had a deep urge to write music, and began composing his own art music.
Till We Meet Again (Excerpt) Introspection is Alan Griffiths’ well-received debut solo album consisting of 9 piano pieces. Griffiths composed this music in Melbourne where he resides. The album is performed by pianist Evgeny Ukhanov. Griffiths’ art music composition is influenced by Elgar, Faure, Satie, Penderecki and especially Rachmaninoff.
