23 de ene. de 2007 · Recorded in 1987 at the time where the direction of jazz had been heading in a different direction for quite some time, Random Abstract re-focuses that bearing to what some people may call mainstream today. As the third jazz album to be released by Branford Marsalis there is evidence that an artist mature beyond his years has emerged.

Biografie. Marsalis begon zijn professionele carrière in het begin van de jaren 80, en speelde in die jaren bij de bigband van Art Blakey, bij Clark Terry en bij Blakeys Jazz Messengers.Vanaf 1982 tot en met 1985 speelde hij in de groep van zijn jongere broer Wynton, om daarna in de begeleidingsband van Sting te gaan spelen. Zo is hij te horen op diens plaat Englishman in New York uit 1988.
18 de nov. de 2023 · Random Abstract. This1987 CBS recording features Branford alongside his working group of that year. This particular session was recorded in Japan, whilst the band was on tour. It all adds up to a group of musicians completely in synch with one another.
