Leben. Yann Tiersen wurde am 23. Juni 1970 in Brest in der Bretagne geboren und wuchs in Rennes auf. Nachdem er einige Jahre in Paris gewohnt hat, lebt er heute mit seiner Familie auf der Insel Ouessant. Auf der Insel hat Tiersen ein eigenes Musikstudio eingerichtet, wozu er eine verlassene Diskothek umfunktioniert hat.. Seit seinem sechsten Lebensjahr spielt er Geige und Klavier.
