Pocklington Prep School was previously known as Lyndhurst School, the name of a large house on the Bridlington Road bought by Pocklington School in 1947 as a junior boarding house. The vast majority of our students at Pocklington School are English speakers from the UK. Classics is very much alive at Pocklington School! Classics, in the form of Latin and Greek, has been taught at Pocklington School since the school’s earliest days. Latin, for a long time the core of the school’s curriculum, is still taught as a compulsory subject to all pupils in First and Second Year, and is a popular option in all years beyond that.
