  2. King of the Blues Guitar seems to be a compilation of Albert King’s first few years of recording with Atlantic (1966-1968). This period saw the release of his album Born Under a Bad Sign and this compilation includes some tracks off that album plus some that must have been released as singles. There is some fantastic blues here from Mr. King, and some fantastic guitar.

Curiously enough, it was Estelle Axton (the sister of Stax Records' co-founder Jim Stewart) who was instrumental in getting Albert King signed to Stax as many at the label were hesitant to sign a Blues singer and guitarist to the label fearing that record sales would not be strong.
