Biografie Leonard Bernstein. Leonard Bernstein wurde am 25. August 1918 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, geboren. Als Kind lernte er Klavierspielen, seine Jugend verbrachte er in Boston, besuchte die Latin School und wurde dann an der Harvard University von Heinrich Gebhard und Helen Coates am Instrument unterrichtet.
