Not long after Houdini’s death Bess left her and Harry’s West 113th Street apartment and moved to Inwood where she would be joined by other members of the Houdini clan. 1930 Federal Census shows Bess Houdini (highlighted at bottom) living at 67 Payson Avenue.
Bess Houdini (January 23, 1876 – February 11, 1943), whose real name was Wilhelmina Beatrice Rahner, was the stage assistant and wife of Harry Houdini. Bess was working at Coney Island in a song and dance act called The Floral Sisters when she met Houdini and married him a week later.

La misma Bess corría una cortina para ocultarse de los espectadores, de inmediato se oían tres palmadas y, al descorrer la cortina, aparecía Houdini totalmente liberado junto al arcón, con el saco del que ahora salía Bess esposada.

After a short courtship of several weeks, they married on June 22, 1894 and began performing magic acts, seances, mentalist acts, and their most famous trick—the Metamorphosis—at circuses, dime museums, and vaudeville halls across the country.
