I have been a fan of Sparks throughout their career and this collection of extended versions of their 12" singles is great, if not vastly different from the CD in the same collection of the original 12" mixes. I bought it mainly for the final track which includes Jimmy Somerville on vocals, but love it nonetheless.

But if you have Repertoire's 2000 compilation "The Best Of Sparks" and the albums from the period that this compilation covers then the one thing here that you don't already have is the "Cool Places" B-side "Sports". All the 7" mixes here are on that "Best Of" from 2000.
This collection of 12-inch versions of Sparks work pays homage to the extended mixes that were often contrived in the studio for use in discos. They found success in Europe in 1979 working with Italian-born producer Giorgio Moroder who, with Pete Bellotte, had turned US singer Donna Summer into a megastar with his hypnotically repetitive Eurodisco instrumental style.
