Rob Minkoff was born on August 11, 1962, in Palo Alto, California. He developed a passion for animation at a young age and pursued his dream by attending the California Institute of the Arts. Minkoff’s talent was quickly recognized, and he landed his first job at Disney in the early 1980s as a character animator.
