Kong: Skull Island takes place in the 70s at the end of the Vietnam War whereas Godzilla takes place in 2014. The only reference to Godzilla in Skull Island is in the end credits, and it doesn’t spoil Godzilla, it just hints at KOTM. I’d be more specific, but I don’t want to spoil it for you.
