The Buchmann-Mehta School of Music was founded in 2005 as a unique partnership between Tel-Aviv University (TAU), the largest and most comprehensive university in Israel, and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO), the country`s most prominent music institution.
The Adler-Buchmann International Program awards full-tuition scholarships for outstanding international students who participate in the school’s orchestra. Additional scholarships are available for pianists and vocalists.

Josef Buchmann, Patron. In January, 2008, Mr. Josef Buchmann flew 90 students of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music at Tel Aviv University to the United Nations in New York City. There, under the baton of Zubin Mehta, the young musicians performed a concert marking the UN International Day of Commemoration of the Victims of the Holocaust.
The studio is used for recording and editing, and is available for students and members of staff to use. Since the studio was established it has been a center to a variety of musicians from different geners. Above 30 Albums had been recocrded in the Studio. The studio includes a control room and an acoustic hall with a "Steinway" concert piano.
Tel Aviv University is also the only university in Israel with a School of Music, training musicians as well as vocal performers. The school holds over 200 concerts a year on the TAU campus and is invited to tour around the world, performing in Zurich, Madrid and Berlin, among other places.
