13 de nov. de 2023 · Renowned acting coach, Anna Scher, has passed away at 78, leaving behind a legacy that has shaped the landscape of the acting world. Known for her unique and innovative teaching methods, Scher's theatre school in north London has been the nurturing ground for many celebrated actors, including Gary Kemp, Jake Wood, Winsome Pinnock, Trevor Laird, and Ricardo P. Lloyd.
The Anna Scher Theatre (AST) started as a drama club in January 1968. Improvisation is at the core of its teaching, combining a community spirit with excellence and professionalism. AST's Method is about addressing conflict resolution through effective communication skills, role reversals, olive branching, notice compliments and the pebble-in-the-pond philosophy.
The theatre is housed inside a converted Edwardian chapel on Barnsbury Road, and has been a home for the dramatic arts since 1972. [1] Formerly the site of the Anna Scher Theatre , the building was reorganised and renamed the "Young Actors Theatre" in 2005 in order to meet the goals of the charity without Scher.
