A disenchanted doctor in a busy London hospital, Ravi is encouraged by his brother Sonny to invest money in opening up a retirement home for British pensioners in an old building just off the airport road in Bangalore, India.

De gebeurtenissen van de personages zijn vermakelijk en soms ook wel ontroerend. Maar ondanks een paar droevige momenten blijft de film luchtig en kijkt makkelijk weg.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is primarily about retired people and aimed at that market, but there’s no reason why a younger audience (by which I mean people under 60) shouldn’t enjoy it. It’s a story of the triumph of love and hope over adversity.
