Genesis P-Orridge, founding member of cult experimental bands Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV, has died. The musician and artist, who had been battling leukaemia for two-and-a-half years, was 70.

Throbbing Gristle themselves were wary of repeating themselves ad nauseum, and of being stereotyped along with all the groups jumping on their bandwagon. That, coupled with internal pressures (Genesis and Cosey were at that point a couple, Chris and Cosey had begun an affair) and the pressure of constant touring, led to the group's decision to call an end to the project.
