16 de oct. de 2019 · After The Two Popes has had its limited theatrical release in the US and UK it will be available to stream on the 20th of December, 2019. The Two Popes has already premiered at the Telluride Film Festival on the 31st of August, 2019. The limited theatrical release dates for the US and UK are November 27th, and November 29th, respectively.
The film's director, Fernando Meirelles told CNA that he intended to draw a dichotomy between Benedict and Francis. "When I first read the script, for me it was very clear: I had the good pope and the bad pope," the director said. "I was much more sympathetic toward Pope Francis, especially because I did not know much about Pope Benedict."
