Once a helmet is designed, it must undergo rigorous testing to meet certain safety protocol before it can be considered street legal. The minimum motorcycle helmet crash test ratings that must be met in order to be legal in the US is the DOT certification. For countries over in Europe, they follow the ECE safety protocol, which is similar to DOT.

25 de jun. de 2020 · For a motorcycle helmet to be legal in the UK, it has to have met the government’s required British safety standards. This is most commonly the ECE 22.05 regulation but if a helmet carries the BSI Kitemark it is also suitable.
28 de ago. de 2018 · In short, those DOT, ECE or Snell stickers show that your helmet is roadworthy and that it passed certain tests and meets specific safety standards. The longer explanation is they’re not all the same, don’t meet the same standards, require different tests for approval and after all of that your helmet still might not be as safe as you think it is (more on that last bit, later).
As long as the helmet remains compliant with the above mentioned standards, and is an approved attachment (according to the helmet manufacturer). However, if you come off a motorcycle and hit the helmet where the camera is counted, it could compromise the integrity of the helmet and hinder its safety capabilities.
