22 de mar. de 2016 · Don Buchla began designing his first instrument in 1963 after being commissioned by Morton Subotnick and Ramon Sender, founders of the San Francisco Tape Music Center. The idea was to create an all-in-one, purpose-built electronic musical instrument that could replace the hodgepodge of laboratory oscillators, filters and modulators with which most electronic music was made up to that point.
Welcome to the Buchla & Tiptop Audio 200 series project. In this project Buchla has teamed up with Tiptop Audio to resume the production of Don Buchla’s 200 series and convert it to Eurorack standards. These extremely rare pieces of equipment made almost half a century ago will once again be available, and this time to a wide audience.

Silver Apples, and many later works (including Touch and A Sky of Cloudless Sulphur) were created on the Buchla. The 1960’s was a new age of musical expression, in which the long-sanctified precepts of classical repertory came tumbling down and Don Buchla was in the center of it. He grew up with a passion for music and a passion for engineering.
