While Journeyman of the Forge requires a total of 960 BM (10 per craft, 50 per insignia, x16 weapons), Master of the Forge requires an additional 1600 (100 per weapon). You don't need to craft the ascended weapons themselves (which would double your Serpentine cost + another 800 BM) which is a relief.
