Yehudi Menuhin nació en Nueva York el 22 de abril de 1916, comenzando a estudiar violín a los cuatro años de edad con Sigmund Anker en San Francisco, su primer maestro; y debuta a los 7 años con la Sinfonía Española. Posteriormente amplió sus estudios con Louis Persinger, que a los 8 años lo hace debutar profesionalmente.

He always made a point of putting these concerns into practical action, which included the founding in 1963 of the Yehudi Menuhin School at Stoke d'Abernon in Surrey, a boarding school for young talented musicians whose ex-pupils include Nigel Kennedy.

  3. Yehudi Menuhin believed, at any rate as a boy, that if he could play a Bach partita absolutely perfectly he could make the world a better place. He was born in 1916 in New York to Moshe Mnuchin and Marutha Sher, both from Jewish families who had earlier migrated to Palestine to escape the pogroms in Russia.
