LOS ANGELES, Calif. — In 1991, Janiva Magness issued her first album, More Than Live. It was a cassette-only release that came out on her own Fathead Records (and was reissued on CD in 2014).
Janiva Magness is an American Grammy Award nominated blues, soul, and Americana singer, songwriter, and author. To date she has released 16 albums. The Blues Foundation named Magness the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year in 2009, becoming only the second woman, after Koko Taylor, to be so honored. The award was presented by B.B. King himself and Bonnie Raitt.

12 de sept. de 2019 · Ms. Magness’ “Have You Seen the Rain,” is slower than the original & the angst, the sadness with backing vocals flows like an undercurrent. “Bad Moon Rising,” could’ve been a mistake. But Steve Wilson’s drums/percussion & Zachary Ross’ dobro darkens the swampy track perfectly. Janiva’s Melissa Etheridge-like vocals ignite it.
