Overview. Educated at the Purcell School of Music, Ty learned his first jazz piano chords from John Mills. Encouraged by Elmer Bernstein and Vangelis, he was signed to Elton John's Rocket Music in the 80s. But it was playing piano and singing at Mayfair’s Langan's Brasserie, at the tender age of 20, that started his brilliant cabaret career.
