Bootleg tapes have circulated for a quarter-century, but now indie label Smog Veil Records has collected the best available tapes from RFTT’s all-too-brief career, cleaned them up as much as possible and has thrown them together as The Day The Earth Met the Rocket From the Tombs.

  5. Rocket From The Tombs Becomes Pere Ubu Nick Amster and Howard Kramer, formerly of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, facilitated the return of the multitrack tapes of the 30 Seconds Over Tokyo sessions at Audio Recording from 1975. We are very grateful. Sadly, Nick Amster passed away recently.

Fronted by Ubu’s David Thomas and also featuring the late, great Peter Laughner on guitar, the group formed in 1974, played a few gigs and recorded some demos, which were later collected into the album The Day The Earth Met Rocket From The Tombs, concurrently reissued by Fire.
