Ali Zamani's drama may sound like something you've seen before, and there are echoes of It's A Wonderful Life throughout, but its verité style and naturalistic performances give it a very different character. It's sugary, to be sure.

Exactly one year later he sets off on a final trip around Los Angeles and encounters Maria (Kaylynn Kubeldis). Lost, blind and in need of salvation he takes her under his wing as they journey across town.
This is a wonderful story of faith, and the Catholic nun that helped Stephen years before, when he attended the school, listens to him when he vents his frustrations. In a profound statement, she tells him, “Don’t let the darkness cloud your soul.”. Encouragement does come his way by film’s end, and he needs it; he’s been through a lot.
