Desilu began when actress Lucille Desirée Ball married bandleader Desiderio Alberto Arnaz III in 1940. During their marriage, the pair built Desilu Studios and Desilu Productions and gave birth to two children -- Lucie Desirée and Desiderio IV (Desi Jr.). They also starred in a little television comedy called I Love Lucy.

Ball was cast in the 1948 radio program My Favorite Husband , and, when the decision was made to move the show to television, she suggested that Arnaz costar with her.
