Something/Anything? is a landmark in the annals of DIY (do it yourself) recordings, a nearly perfect songbook of pop music that displays remarkable breadth as a songwriter, musician (Todd plays every instrument for most of the double-album set) and producer.
20 de oct. de 2023 · Kende deze site niet, maar kwam via Todd's something anything? hier terecht. Dan maar gelijk inschrijven en nog wat interessante info toevoegen. Omdat Rundgren en zijn muziek mij al jaren fascineert en ik een jaar of 30 geleden bij something anything? begonnen ben (op good-old CD) blijf ik nieuwsgierig naar zijn (nieuwe) producties en/of re-releases van ouder werk.

Todd Harry Rundgren ( Upper Darby, Pensilvania, 22 de junio de 1948) es un cantante, compositor, multiinstrumentista y productor musical estadounidense. Es conocido especialmente por dos de sus álbumes, aclamados por la crítica: Something/Anything? de 1972 y A Wizard, a True Star, de 1973. Rundgren lideró el grupo de rock progresivo Utopia.
Something, Anything? is prophetic on the larger scale, though that idea would not have been considered when the album was released, with Todd looking back, forward, and into the future. For all of it’s quirkiness, “Piss Aaron” bespeaks the irreverence of the punk scene that is just around the corner, and “Wolfman Jack” is more Motown than Motown has a right to be.
Something/Anything?, the first album officially issued under the name "Todd Rundgren", was released in February 1972, shortly after Bearsville had signed a long-term distribution deal with Warner Bros. Records. The album included many songs that would become his best-known.
