That triumphant night Hollywood Fats engaged in a kind of excessive dissipation which was then becoming the norm. Into the early morning hours of December 8, 1986, he and other fellow musicians and friends “partied.” At some point in the evening it was clear that Michael ‘Hollywood Fats’ Mann had overdosed on heroin.
