I never really enjoyed it all that much, but it definitely is the stepping stone for Wes Craven to make 'Scream'. Everything is metatextual, or simply self-referential. So, while I don't personally care for it, I appreciate that without New Nightmare, the original Scream would probably never have come to fruition, which would have been a travesty.
