The Collection de l’Art Brut. New works and new creators permanently continue to enrich the Collection de l’Art Brut that Jean Dubuffet donated to the City of Lausanne. Thus, in the wake of the 133 creators on the museum’s roster in 1971, the total is now nearly 400. The permanent exhibition comprises 700 works by about sixty creators.

Art brut. Art brut is a French term that translates as 'raw art', invented by the French artist Jean Dubuffet to describe art such as graffiti or naïve art which is made outside the academic tradition of fine art. Jean Dubuffet saw fine art as dominated by academic training, which he referred to as ‘art culturel’ or cultural art.
