Mit ihrem fünften, Anfang 1981 veröffentlichten Album „Clouds Across The Sun“ näherte sich die amerikanische Firefall verdächtig nahe dem Mainstreamrock. Das schien im ersten Augenblick als gar nicht so falscher Schritt, denn mit Country- und Westcoastrock konnte man Anfang der 80er Jahre so gut wie keinen Blumentopf mehr gewinnen.
