The New Vaudeville Band var en brittisk popgrupp, bildad 1966, och mest känd för låten "Winchester Cathedral" från 1966. Låten blev en stor hit både i USA och i England. De fick ingen mer internationell hit, men hade i England två topp-20 hits till, "Peek-a-Boo" och "Finchley Central".

With John Carter, Stephens wrote "Semi-Detached Suburban Mr. James" for Manfred Mann and, with Les Reed, "There's a Kind of Hush" for The New Vaudeville Band. A year later, a cover version of "There's a Kind of Hush" was a hit for Herman's Hermits , [12] and it was also later a hit for The Carpenters , who also named their album a A Kind of Hush .
