Partly recorded in Joshua Tree, the desert atmosphere has seeped into its grooves, conjuring images of dust bowls and vast skies. In general, Mark Lanegan and Duke Garwood’s latest collaboration is a traditional blues album, mourning lost loves and fixing broken hearts.
With animals, I am going to live my life. Free of all the suffering and strife". The realm of animals is pure and noble -- a refuge from human cruelty. I have often looked at it this way. If only escape were possible. Once more I am perfectly in tune with Mark Lanegan's vision -- dark and truthful, it seems to me.

Mark William Lanegan (25. listopadu 1964 – 22. února 2022) byl americký rockový hudebník, zpěvák a autor písní.Svou hudební kariéru zahájil v 80. letech ve skupině Screaming Trees, která bývá většinou řazena do stylu grunge.Již v době svého působení ve skupině vydal Lanegan také své první sólové nahrávky, do roku 2020 jich vytvořil dvanáct.
Mark Lanegan and Duke Garwood don't disappoint. Lanegan's beautiful, plaintive lyrics (another volume of collected lyrics to accompany 'I am the Wolf', please) over Garwood's delicate picking set against minimalist soundscapes: just beautiful. An album for all seasons, but especially for the gloaming or dusk times, but that's just me.
