Mank v zásadě od začátku nemá šanci čímkoliv překvapit, protože do nového Finchera už v podstatě jdete s tím, že dostaneme vizuálně neskutečně vypilovanou podívanou a vysokou filmařskou, která navíc tentokrát bude vyloženou ódou na radost pro cinefily, kteří se nebojí nakoukávat si starší Hollywood.
