Jools Holland OBE DL is a composer, pianist, bandleader and broadcaster. From playing pubs in the East End docks as a teenage greaser, to leading his rhythm and blues orchestra and selling millions of records this century, it is his passion for music that has made Jools Holland into a doyen of the music scene.
The 20-piece Rhythm & Blues Orchestra features, at its helm, former Squeeze drummer, Gilson Lavis. Lavis has been drumming with Jools Holland for over 25 years, since their Squeeze days. They are joined by Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall, whom are sure to deliver true rhythm and blues boogie woogie with their show-stopping vocals.
Jools is respected not only as a performer, but also an authority on all music. Pauline Black and Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson are founding members of the influential Coventry based two-tone band and ska pioneers The Selecter.Their debut album Too Much Pressure, released in 1980, still remains a key moment of British music history.
