The Waitresses were an American new wave band from Akron, Ohio, best known for their singles "I Know What Boys Like" and "Christmas Wrapping." They released two albums, Wasn't Tomorrow Wonderful? and Bruiseology, and one EP, I Could Rule the World If I Could Only Get the Parts.
After Bruiseology was released and Donahue left the band, Butler and company continued on very briefly for some live shows with Holly Beth Vincent on vocals. When The Waitresses were officially no more, Butler went on to release some solo recordings and Wormworth could be seen for many years as a member of the house band on The Rosie O'Donnell Show.
26 de nov. de 2010 · By all intuition, The Waitresses should have been on the rise, but the stresses of touring and infighting led to Donohue's exit not long after the release of sophomore LP Bruiseology (1983), produced by Hugh Padgham (who'd produce The Police's Synchronicity that same year).
Although they made their mark on popular culture with the early-1980s anthems “I Know What Boys Like” and “Christmas Wrapping,” The Waitresses were no new-wave flash in the pan. While nearly every alternative-pop collection features a song from The Waitresses, their recorded tenure has been incomplete in the digital realm for decades.
