Michael Rolfe Gira (/ dʒəˈrɑː /; [ 6 ] born February 19, 1954) is an American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, author and artist. Now based in New Mexico, [ 7 ][ 8 ] he founded the band Swans, in which he sings and plays guitar, in New York City in the 1980s at the height of the no wave movement.

American musician, producer, composer, author, and artist, born 19 February 1954 in Los Angeles, California, USA. He became known via his band Swans. In 1990 he founded Young God Records which released Swans music and other projects. He also produced or co-produced nearly all releases on the label.
