After Giselle, Grisi danced the title role in the first performance of the Jolie Fille of Gand (Paris, 1842), La Péri (Paris, 1843), in which she became notorious for her daring leap from a high platform into Petipa's arms. Critic Edwin Denby notes that Carlotta Grisi used wires in the second act of Giselle to "amplify" her leaps 2, so perhaps the same technique was used in La Péri.
