RIP - Jerry Lee Lewis (JLL). I have most of JLL's studio recordings on Sun, Smash, Elektra, etc. (including most of his later recordings). I've enjoyed all of these periods but I feel the Elektra years are very underrated. This record here is the JLL I listen to most often.

Jerry Lee Lewis was an American pianist, singer and songwriter. Nicknamed "The Killer", he was described as "rock 'n' roll's first great wild man".A pioneer of rock 'n' roll and rockabilly music, Lewis made his first recordings in 1952 at Cosimo Matassa's J&M Studio in New Orleans, Louisiana, and early recordings in 1956 at Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee.

Jerry Lee was also part of the first class inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, another sign that interest in Lewis had been simmering for a while. Nick Tosches published his acclaimed biography, Hellfire: The Jerry Lee Lewis Story, in 1982, the same year Jerry Lee's ex-wife Myra published Great Balls of Fire: The Uncensored Story of Jerry Lee Lewis.
