Chigwell School is an academically selective independent school for boys and girls between the ages of four and eighteen. The foundation of the School is Anglican and a Christian ethos is maintained, but pupils and staff are welcomed from many different ethnic and religious backgrounds.
At Chigwell, we pride ourselves on our warm and friendly approach and take time to get to know future pupils and their families well. We are a selective school but we do our best to make the assessment process as comfortable and enjoyable as possible – we want to see applicants at their best.

Chigwell encourages applications from pupils who, without a bursary, would not be able to access an education of the highest quality, but who would thrive with the academic, extra-curricular and developmental opportunities offered here.
Pupils enter the Senior School in Year 9, although they will have been following a senior school curriculum since the start of Year 7. This is both an exciting and increasingly serious phase as pupils’ development, emotionally and academically, accelerates quickly towards maturity.
