Super 8 film, introduced in 1965, increased the frame rate to 18 and 24 frames-per-second. 16mm film is usually runs at 24 frames-per-second but older silent 16mm films might be 16 fps. You will probably end up putting regular eight film dual 8 reels using the half inch diameter shaft as a super 8 size then when your film is rewound simply add the snap in plastic adapter that down converts the super 8 to standard 8 ...
