18 de ene. de 2024 · The original Black Sabbath bass sound wasn’t even a bass amp. Options for aspiring heavy metal stars were few and far between in Birmingham in the late 1960s. Geezer Butler was limited to guitar amps, and wound up using the same amp as Sabbath axeman Tony Iommi. This was the Laney LA100BL head, designed for both bass and lead guitar playing.

Hace 2 días · Tony Iommi was using a Dallas Rangemaster Treble Booster in his early days with Black Sabbath. The roadie of Tony customized the pedal to add some more gain to it. Later, during the recordings of the Heaven And Hell album, John Stillwell threw away the pedal without Tony knowing it.
6 de mar. de 2023 · Black Sabbath was able to take this clean electric guitar sound and, with the aid of technology, specifically distortion and fuzz pedals, manipulate the sound to make it deeper and richer. Every song on the album, except for Planet Caravan, uses a distortion pedal, which creates the deep, rich, and angry sound that characterizes heavy metal.
