Excitement and respect for such a community brought me to Santa Catalina School. I am humbled to serve as the school’s fifth Head of School. Santa Catalina Lower and Middle School serves PreK through Grade 8 boys and girls. Our all-girls Upper School, with its robust boarding and day program, serves Grades 9 through 12.

Santa Catalina’s Spanish colonial architecture recalls the original convent and school built in 1850 in Monterey, capital of the newly formed state of California. After sharing a treacherous journey from Europe to the West Coast, Reverend Joseph Alemany, Bishop of Monterey, and Sister Marie Goemaere, a Dominican Sister, established Santa Catalina in an adobe building in downtown Monterey.
