We use ‘yet’ when we are expecting an action to happen but it hasn’t happened. We use ‘already’ when we weren’t expecting an action to be completed, but it has been completed. The key difference between these two words is that ‘yet’ refers to an action that has not happened and ‘already’ refers to an action that has happened.
