My problem is that older Lionel steam locomotive whistles do not work at all, and the new sound systems and horns only work well when stopped. While moving, blowing the whistles tends to slow the engines down. Is there something
21 de dic. de 2009 · All prewar Gilbert American Flyer was designed to operate on AC, even the HO engines. American Flyer transformers pre-Gilbert had multiple winding taps and some pairs of posts could provide as much as 24V. In 1938 Gilbert brought out a new line of transformers with only 3 posts, a Base Post, a 7 to 15V Post and a 15V Post.
3 de mar. de 2016 · The exact value is not important, it should be very low. A bad primary winding will read infinite (broken wire). If the resistance was low the transformer should hum when plugged in. Same for the resistance of the secondary coil (measure from the base post to the 15V post with the light under the green lense unscrewed).

So for the newer 30B - as discussed by transz4mr - the wires go from the roller arm to the respective 5-18 volt terminal on the inside of the "output" plate of the transformer.
